NEUROSCIENCE

Here’s a tiny insight what you can expect to be covered from what I learned from neuroscience. I’ve dotted some points on boredom. I will discuss and reveal many more facts and insights on topics such as distraction, decisions, motivation, creativity, selection, bias and stereotyping and memory. These tutorials are made available on the subscription site.

boredom

Why we find it hard to switch ourselves off

Real periods of boredom are very nasty for us

Doing “absolutely nothing” is awful and painful

What really drives us to tears is having to do a monotonous task

Our brains switch to “daydream” mode not only in boring situations but also during 50% of all practical activities

Humans were not destined for highly efficient workflows but require variation in order to maintain concentration

The ability of our thoughts to wander is in fact a human strength that enables us to solve problems in a new way. This is called INNOVATION

When you change your perspective it transforms boredom into positive leisure time

We are capable of detaching ourselves from the present moment and taking on a variery of perspectives. We can travel through time; we are able to empathise with others; we can land on fresh ideas; we can discover new perspectives

Many people get their best new ideas when taking a shower, cleaning their home, listening to music or reading a book.

What you can do to get out of the depressive cycle of ruminating is by engaging with other people and to allow external stimuli to distract you!
